Meet the Governors

Our School Governors are responsible for the strategic management of a school, working to ensure that all pupils receive a high-quality education. They work with senior leaders and teachers to support the school's mission, and their responsibilities include:

  • Setting the school's vision: Governors work to ensure the school has a clear vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
  • Holding the headteacher accountable: Governors are responsible for holding the headteacher and other school leaders to account for the school's educational performance.
  • Overseeing finances: Governors ensure the school's money is well spent and oversee its financial performance.
  • Making decisions on staffing and budget: Governors make decisions on the school's budget and staffing.
  • Ensuring the curriculum is well taught: Governors make sure the agreed curriculum is well taught.
  • Supporting pupils' development: Governors decide how the school can encourage pupils' spiritual, moral, and cultural development.
  • Ensuring all pupils are provided for: Governors make sure the school provides for all pupils, including those with special needs.

Our Governing Board are not responsible for the operational day-to-day running of the school or for any of the issues surrounding admissions to the school - Hampshire County Council now carry these out centrally.

Whilst we are happy for any relevant issue to be raised with us individually, all concerns can only be resolved with the full governing body.

Meetings and Focus Groups

All governors meet for Full Governing Body meetings twice a term. To support the smooth running, development and leadership of the school, we subdivide into two smaller focus groups: Strategic, Facilities and Learning Partnership.

The Learning Partnership Focus Group looks at all curriculum matters within the school, including reviewing the School Development Plan and all data. It also takes account of the physical and emotional well-being of all learners.

The Strategic and Facilities Focus Group is responsible for the upkeep, improvement and general Health & Safety of the School building and grounds. It is responsible for the provision of a stimulating environment for all learners. This group further reviews and approves the school budget. In addition, it is responsible for all personnel issues including recruitment and staffing.

Types of Governors

Several categories of Governors make up the governing body at Parsonage Farm. - All governors have equal status; however they are appointed.

Co-opted Governors are appointed by the governing body and, in the opinion of the governing body, have the skills required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school.
